A little care, every day

Care for your brows.
Give them time.

Your guide to the first hours, the daily routine, and the changes you may notice as your brows heal.

Your aftercare routine

Gentle care.
One step at a time.

Use this guide alongside the instructions Dana gives you for your skin and service. If anything is unclear, ask before changing products or your routine.

  1. Immediately after

    Gently blot your brows

With clean hands, gently blot with a clean cotton pad or tissue every 30–45 minutes for the first 2–3 hours, as Dana directs. Use a fresh pad each time; do not rub.

  2. Your daily routine

    Keep cleansing gentle

Follow Dana’s cleansing instructions for your brows. Keep them out of direct shower spray, and avoid unnecessary wetting, sweat, and unapproved products. Do not scrub or soak the area.

  3. When applying aftercare

    Use a very thin layer

Use only the aftercare ointment Dana recommends for your skin, and apply it sparingly to clean, dry brows. Ask Dana which product to use and whether she recommends a protective layer before showering during the first 3 days. Do not combine products or leave a thick coating.

  4. As skin flakes

    Let flakes fall naturally

Do not pick, peel, scratch, or rub your brows. Let light scabs and flaking skin release on their own to help protect the healing skin and pigment.

  5. First 1–2 weeks & until healed

    Skip soaking and steam

Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, long hot baths, and direct shower streams. Keep the area out of soaking water until it has healed; follow Dana’s instructions if she recommends longer.

  6. Until fully healed

    Keep makeup and actives away

Keep brow makeup and cosmetics off the treated area. Avoid retinoids and exfoliating acids, including glycolic and lactic acids, on or near the brows while they heal.

  7. First 7–10 days

    Avoid heavy sweating

Pause intense workouts and activities that make you sweat heavily. Resume based on how your skin is healing and Dana’s instructions.

  8. During healing & beyond

Protect your brows from the sun

Keep healing brows out of direct sun and tanning beds; use shade or a hat. Once fully healed, protect the area with broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher. Read the AAD’s sun-care guidance.

The changes along the way

Your healing timeline.

These are approximate stages, not deadlines. Your brows may move through them at a different pace.

Read the healing stages

  1. Day 1

    Freshly defined

Brows can look crisp and prominent. Some mild redness or tenderness may occur. Start the gentle care routine Dana gives you.

  2. Days 2–4

    A deeper tone

The color may appear darker or bolder than expected. Early appearance is not the settled result.

  3. Days 5–7

    Flaking & unevenness

Light flaking can make the brows look patchy. Leave flakes alone and continue gentle care.

  4. Days 8–10

    A lighter phase

Pigment may look much lighter as the surface heals. Avoid trying to fill in or “fix” the treated area with makeup.

  5. Days 14–28

    Color begins to settle

The color can become more visible and even as healing progresses. Individual skin and pigment retention vary.

  6. Around weeks 4–6

    Review with Dana

Once the skin has healed, Dana can assess the result and discuss a touch-up if needed. Timing is individual; a touch-up is not automatically due on day 42. A touch-up starts another healing period.

Early color and patchiness do not show the final result. Wait for healed skin and Dana’s assessment before planning adjustments.

Know when to get help

Pay attention to your skin.

Redness that spreads or worsens, increasing pain, pus, fever, or chills need prompt medical advice. Contact a healthcare professional rather than waiting for the next healing stage. Severe swelling, trouble breathing, or a widespread allergic reaction require urgent medical help. Learn about warning signs from the American Academy of Dermatology.
